Upgrade availability changes constantly. Here is when your chances are highest:
- At booking: The widest selection of available seats is right after you purchase your ticket
- 24–48 hours before departure: Airlines release upgrades to fill unsold premium seats — this is often the best time to get a Business or First Class upgrade at a lower cost
- At the gate: Gate agents sometimes offer last-minute upgrades, but availability is not guaranteed
